Hi, I've been thinking for a long time about getting my first tattoo, but I've been finding it very difficult to decide on an artist and a design.

I know that a want a sleeve design and it to stop just past my elbow rather than my wrist. I live in Leeds and all the portfolios I've looked at are in traditional, japanese/oriental, tribal or horror styles, but I don't really feel that any of those mean anything to me on a personal level. I love some of the designs my friends have but I'd feel a bit silly if I was asked why I'd got my tattoo in one of those styles.

Yeah, it sounds a bit daft even to me, but I guess I just want something a bit more modern and that looks great without raising questions like "I didn't know you were into traditional japanese tattoos?" If any of you think you might understand what I'm trying to explain could you suggest some designs to look at or even better; suggest a tattoo artist I can speak to that isn't too far away?

Thank you!

Hi

I would recommend Russ at Kaleidoscope Tattoos near the market in Leeds if you want animal or portrait style.

If you ant something modern/funky I would recommend The Tattoo House in Dewsbury a 5 min walk west as you come out of the train station (20 mins travel in all).

Russ did an artist impression of my wife on her wedding day - front of the website.

The Tattoo House is http://www.skinchaos.com/

They are doing a modern interpretation of japanese tattooing for my backpiece.

I wanted my own take on the style and was glad I found these artists.

Take care
Matthew

Thanks for that - the one in Dewsbury looks like just the kind of place I was after! I'll have a word with them.

Thanks again.
