Had a dabble at tattooing my knees you know a bit of fun what sort of depth should you go into I dont think I am getting in deep enough.

I watched the videos with interest.
Has the ink begun to come out?
The tattoo really depends on several factors; needle type, ink type and the machine used.
The tattoo is meant to pierce the skin so that it loads the ink in the upper dermal layer. If you go too deep it could lead to infection and not deep enough it will lift out.
A couple of things - I would seriously recommend working in a sterile area, and wearing gloves (even if you are working on yourself). The risk of cross infection is quite high.
Also the wipes you are using will just blot the ink - you would have been better off with disposable wipes rather than kitchen roll.
Anyhow post up how it came out.

Right cheers for the comment the kitchen paper is a general observasion that previous Tattooist I have noticed to use I guess it's trail and error
